Message Board: Email List Enabled

What are they?

Email-enabled boards allow members to participate in discussions not just through the message board interface, but also by sending emails.

How do they work?

Each board has a unique "handle" that functions like an email address. This handle helps the system recognize and sort emails sent to the board. It's like a nickname for the board, but instead of words, it uses a combination of lowercase letters and numbers for simplicity.

Example: Board handle: "chambernationtest"

Creating topics via Email:

Only authorized members can create topics by email. Here's how:

  1. Send an email to the board's email address (found on the board's topic list).

3. The email subject line becomes the topic name.
   4. The email body becomes the topic description.
   5. You can even forward emails to the board address to create new topics (but be aware of formatting issues).

Important Notes:

  • Emails must be sent from a valid member account.
  • Forwarded emails with quoted text or attachments might not display correctly.

Replying to topics via email:

To reply to a topic via email:

  1. Simply reply to the original topic email you received.
  2. Type your message in the email body and send.
  3. The system will process your reply within minutes.

Additional notes:

  • You can reply from any email address, but:
  • Unknown addresses will be displayed as "unknown author."
  • Replies from associated accounts will be attributed to the most recently created account.
  • For best results, type your reply at the top of the email body.
  • You can choose to send replies only to the topic creator, not everyone who opted-in.

Attachments:

The system will try to include attachments sent with your email in the relevant topic/reply. Remember, members are responsible for the content of their attachments.
