Mobile Application: Mobile Push Notifications

This article explains mobile push notifications, an optional feature you can add to your mobile app developed through the MMS.

What are Mobile Push Notifications?

Mobile push notifications are a way to send messages directly to users who have installed your app on their devices. Enabling this feature allows you to keep users informed and engaged. However, please note that adding this feature may require approximately 2 hours of billable time.

Here's a breakdown of what you need to know:

  • Sending Messages:

    • With push notifications enabled, you can send messages in two ways:

      • Targeted Messages: Send messages to specific users who have logged in to the app with their username and password.
      • Broadcast Messages: Send messages to all devices with the app installed.
    • Important Note: Targeting specific users is only available if they've logged in. Users who haven't logged in will only receive broadcast messages.

  • Display on Devices:

    • Push notifications appear on the user's device, regardless of whether the app is running in the foreground.
    • Clicking a notification when the app isn't active will launch the app and display the relevant content or message.
  • Benefits:

    • Push notifications are a powerful tool to:
      • Encourage app usage and engagement.
      • Communicate quickly with attendees for event-based apps like conference apps.
